Going with the grain

Natural materials, especially wood, are such a huge part of Scandinavian design adding warmth, texture and simplicity as well as a sense of heritage.

Introduce a few wooden pieces to a Scandi scheme and you’ll get a sense of calm and visual interest from those simple – almost effortless – shapes. But the beauty of wood goes deeper. We need to go back to its roots, the tree itself, to truly appreciate the real charm of that piece of furniture or accessory. Think of how each tree is different – its grain, colouring and characteristics – this serves to remind us of the humble natural origins of those favourite wooden finds around our homes. Wood needs to be loved, touched and appreciated.

Our wooden table lamps look simply stunning teamed with natural linen shades, while our new Skara mirror is a great way of playing with shape, breaking up straight lines and geometric elements in a truly relaxed way. In the kitchen, our new wooden plates and chopping boards will soon become everyday favourites.
