Make this summer a scandi-inspired staycation

Bring a Scandinavian summer home, with relaxed living, endless days and enough memory-making to last a lifetime.

So many of us dream of spending the summer months in Scandinavia: moving into a summerhouse (perhaps on the beach or surrounded by nature), spending lazy days exploring, resting and playing with loved ones.

Scandi summerhouses have such a lovely, inviting feel – they are often years in the making and passed down through generations. Furniture is loved, linens washed, and accessories, tableware and glassware curated over time. The light is so important too – after months of darkness, window dressings are kept simple, allowing as much natural light to fill each room as possible.

Texture is also key to a summerhouse look – baskets are filled with throws for cooler nights, jute and cotton rugs add interest to painted floorboards, while lightweight furniture is moved from inside to out, and back again.

When it comes to outside spaces, the terrace (or deck) is the place to hang out, with rugs, throws, cushions and lanterns adding layers of Scandi style and comfort to garden furniture. Any gaps are filled with planters, boosting that all-important connection to nature. Start with these ideas and create your own Scandi staycation space.
