Discovering delight in Copenhagen

Last June, we were discovering delight in Copenhagen as part of our Scandinavia trip, but we’re determined to keep these memories alive, and we thought you’d appreciate them too.

Discovering delight in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is an incredible city. If you haven’t already been, put it on your list. If you’ve been lucky enough to go already, wasn’t it amazing? We’d love to hear what you loved – share your experiences in the comments!

As always, our trip was primarily to meet with some of our amazing suppliers, so there wasn’t much time to take in the city. All the photos you’re seeing here are of that magical golden hour at twilight when, for just a few moments, we were able to settle into the relaxed and authentic feel of this brilliant city.

With architecture to die for, cobbled streets to long for – and oh, the light! We could have lingered on for hours just soaking up the beauty, the slower pace, the quiet peace and contentment that seems to inhabit everyone you meet.

Fine dining in Copenhagen

And our delightful dinner at SEA by Kiin Kiin at 71 Nyhavn was a dream! This Michelin-starred restaurant was lit by candles, infused with flavour and an all-round treat for the senses.

As ever, we didn’t quite feel we had enough time to discover Copenhagen, and were left craving a little more time to wander and soak it all up. But looking back at these photos, that gorgeous sunset, our memorable meal – right now, that’s enough.

Visiting Copenhagen

Hidden secrets of Copenhagen:

  • Ordrupgaard: A stunning house in the woods, part designed by Zaha Hadid, now a beautiful art gallery, full of inspiration.
  • Coffee culture: Pop in to one of Copenhagen’s many coffee shops for refreshment and atmosphere. Ipsen & Co and Props Coffee Shop are highly recommended.
  • Harbour Bath: Plan a summer trip with some gorgeous outdoor swimming at Harbour Bath. Grab blankets and take something to barbecue in the outsoors, and make the most of the long Danish days.
  • Public parks: Bring your own beer, wine or bubbles to local parks in the spring and summer. Sønder Boulevard and Østre Anlæg Park are great spots to enjoy great company and a great atmosphere.
