Trend watch: Urban Geometric

Trend watch: Urban Geometric

July 25, 2016 0 By Nordic House

It feels like we’re adding things to the store every day at the moment! Geometric designs have been popular throughout the ages – especially so in the past few years – and it’s easy to see why. Designs in simple, graphic shapes with pleasing symmetry are a failsafe way of adding a touch of style to your interiors, as well as being an effective way of creating interest while still keeping things fundamentally simple – key ideas which perfectly reflect the Scandi design ethos! This year, the trend for geometrics has been around natural shapes and forms, and in keeping with this, our latest collection features pieces that have been inspired by nature – for example the amazing organic shape of beehives.

The best thing about geometric designs is that they look good in pretty much every design scheme and can blend beautifully with modern, contemporary and more eclectic interiors. Bold yet subtle, striking yet understated – geometric designs combine the best of all worlds! Here are some of our key pieces for adding a hint of natural geometric style to your home and garden. What we love most about these at Nordic House HQ is that they’re made from both industrial materials and cool crisp ceramics – giving them a fab urban edge. My personal favourites have to be the wonderful outdoor planters, but as always, I love them all!

Designed in Sweden, our beautiful new hexagonal concrete outdoor hanging planter is this season’s must-have. Finished with three jute string cords with concrete detailing, this clever design includes a small plastic stopper on the base, that can be released after watering to allow excess water to drain.

This outdoor planter concept is inspired by the beehive design and is a tribute to all that bees do, to allow us humans to grow vegetables, fruit and to enjoy the flowers. The hexagonal modules can be combined in many different ways. Each size is sold separately so you can create your own design.

Designed to match our Hexagonal Concrete Planters above, this bird bath truly completes the look, and is just perfect for creating a lovely little haven in your garden.

The perfect planter companion to support growing plants. Made from powder coated grey metal, it sits comfortably in any of our hexagonal concrete planters, allowing you to support and train climbing plants.

Another design fresh from Sweden, our beautiful new large geometric hanging planter is made from tactile white porcelain and finished with three pure leather cords. It looks truly stunning whether hung singly, or make a dramatic statement by grouping several together.

Our medium geometric hanging planter features a slightly different design to the large planter. Hang them together to create a striking display.

Also designed in Sweden, these white hexagonal tealight holders are ideal for creating a coffee table centrepiece. Available in three sizes, the hexagonal modules can be combined in many different ways. Each size is sold separately, so you can design your own look.

Our hexagonal tealight holders are also available in concrete grey – they look equally fab mixing the colours up a little.

Part of the same collection, these funky geometric candle plates are a great way to create a stylish candle display. Available in concrete grey or white, they are again sold separately so you can mix and match each colour to create your perfect design.

We discovered this striking design in Denmark and were instantly captivated by its clean lines and minimal adornment – and by the fact that it radiates Scandi style. Made from metal and glass, this lantern looks at its best with a simple white pillar candle inside; surround it with candle gravel or moss for a flash of velvety colour.

Simple and beautiful – what more could you ask for?! We hope you love our geometric pieces as much as we do!
