Sitting Gonk
A traditional Scandinavian token at Christmas and throughout winter.
Our sitting Gonk represents a cheeky, generous spirit that, in folklore, helps to take care of the home, especially through the winter months. In modern Sweden, he has taken on more of the Father Christmas role, and no Swedish home would be without its own tomte in the festive period!
Our Gonk sits with his floppy legs on a mantelpiece or shelf in the living room or kitchen, watching over the home and everyone within it. He symbolises the hope and lifting of spirits we all need to get through midwinter, and he has a special place in the hearts of adults and children alike.
Utterly charming and nostalgic, we hope you'll love this little piece of Nordic tradition in your home this Christmas. Don't forget to leave out a bowl of porridge - his favourite - to win his favour on Christmas Eve.
